Among the early Sasanian inscriptions, this is one of the more interesting in terms of the subject matter. It shows some early notions of heroism and manliness which we find with Šāpūr I. The subject is the arrow which Šāpūr I has shot and the way the event is told reminds us of Araš the Archer in the Iranian tradition, something that would have been known to our king of kings. more

Fired clay plaque with mould pressed relief decoration on the face, representing male with bushy hairdo and radiate crown, wearing long-sleeved belted tunic with vertical decorated strip along the front, baggy trousers and shoes with long ribbon-ties, reclining on a decorated mattress or bolster with a cushion below his elbow; moulded 4 l. inscription referring to Mithra; roughly smoothed back and edges.
